Madison and Chanel’s Yosemite engagement was literally what dreams are made of (cue Hilary Duff music)! Late in the summer, Madison reached out about proposing to her partner in Yosemite while they were on a road trip out in California. But unlike many Yosemite proposals, Madison had a very specific vision in mind: one of the sequoia groves in the park. The forest played a big role in Madison and Chanel’s relationship and it was critical to her that their proposal happen amongst the giants of Yosemite.

After lots of planning and making sure that our plan was actually viable (forest closures, forest fires, etc….you know, normal Yosemite things), we agreed that I would hike up the trail to Mariposa Grove just before sunrise and then I would wait for Chanel and Madison to arrive before Madison popped the question. This meant I needed to hike up to the forest alone, in the dark; if you know me personally, you probably know this was a big deal for me personally, as I might just be the most scared-y-cat ever! Anyways, I made it up there in one piece and then it was just a waiting game for Chanel and Madison to arrive.

Eventually, I spotted the two of them making their way into the sequoia grove from the trail and wandering towards the big trees. I could see Madison setting up her phone for a photo and I casually walked out of the bathroom and then pretended as if I were taking nature photos before Madison got down on one knee and it was showtime! I snapped the moment and continued to get all the happiness afterwards as they hugged and kissed. Afterwards, I went over and said hi to both of them and Madison confessed to Chanel that she had been planning this for a while—-it was all so sweet.

Once Chanel was over the initial shock of the proposal, we explored the sequoia grove together, taking photos along the way to celebrate this big moment for the two of them. Some of the trees may have been burned by the last fire, but it surely didn’t take away from the magic that they possessed on this special day for these two lovers. Congrats again Madison and Chanel!!!
