When it comes to awesome, fun couples, I have been lucky to work with some truly amazing people throughout my career thus far. That said, let me tell say, Riley and Kelsey are absolutely no exception! I met these two cuties a couple years ago when they were still dating when Kelsey reached out wanting to do a snow session near their home in Big Bear. We had an incredible session that afternoon and it solidified just how special they were not only as a couple but as people. Not too long afterwards, Riley proposed to Kelsey and I was so over-the-moon happy for the two of them! While they have been taking their time in wedding planning, Kelsey wanted to do a fun little session this past summer to commemorate their move to Long Beach and their engagement. I couldn’t say yes fast enough. While we were planning, Kelsey had posted a photo on Instagram from a day her and Riley spent at the Colorado Lagoon; the minute I saw it, I knew I wanted to shoot there. The best part: it was somewhere that was special to them because, it turns out, they spent a lot of their summer days there!
On the evening of their session, we started out with a little beach picnic paired with some of their favorite brews! They toasted, chatted and before long we found ourselves on the bridge that crosses the lagoon. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we captured some sweet moments, including some photos with Mochi, their adorable kitty! Afterwards, we headed back to the beach for some blue hour photos with the infamous lanterns. At this point, Kelsey and Riley were pretty sure they wanted to jump into the water right at the end but wanted to save it for the last shot. So we got some amazing blue hour photos and then, when it was time, these two lovebirds jumped off the dock right into the water. It was so amazing and we were all laughing so much!
