Dreamy Malibu Maternity Session

Taryn + John’s Maternity Photoshoot in Malibu

El Matador | Malibu, CA | Summit and Sur Photography

Maternity sessions are some of my favorite to shoot, especially with first time parents! There is just something so sweet and exciting in talking to couples who are expecting their first child---it's like nervous energy, but in a great way. Taryn and John's maternity session in Malibu was no exception and they were so excited to chat about the upcoming arrival of their little one.

Having just moved to California, they reached out wanting to have their maternity session on the beach and I knew the perfect place: El Matador in Malibu. When the sun starts to set, it begins to hit the various rock formations along the beach and in the water, creating the perfect setting for any session. On the day of Taryn and John's session, we weren't sure what kind of weather we would get but were all pleasantly surprised with an incredible sunset and pretty mild temperatures for November on the coast. We walked around the beach, staring at the southern end and making our way along the long stretch of sand as the sun set in front of us. We talked baby names, things they were looking forward to, and even things they were nervous about. It was truly a gorgeous maternity session on a perfect California day.

Interested in Having a Session at El Matador?
El Matador is one of my favorite places to shoot on the coast but I always recommend shooting during the week to help avoid crowds (it does get quite busy here and there was even a proposal happening when we were leaving). Also important to know, this location does require a permit from the California Film Commission since it is part of the state park system and is $65 (but don't worry, I can help put together your application and everything you need to make this happen).

Are you or your partner expecting and want to remember this exciting time with a maternity session? Reach out today to chat about booking a maternity session with me!
